श्री श्याम कथा 

प्रेमियों । श्याम बॉबा कौन हैं? क्या है? कैसे हैं ?कहाँ रहते हैं? एवं कहा रहते 

 हैं? इस प्रकार के कई प्रश्न लोगों के मन में जिज्ञासा बनाए हुये हैं। पूरी |

कथा जानने के लिये तो विस्तार में जाना पडेगा। आप जैसे-जैसे श्याम जगत के

* करीब आते जायेंगे विस्तृत जानकारी मिलती जायेगी। संक्षेप में आपको बाबा के

विषय में जानकारी देने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है।

महाभारत काल की सारी घटना है जिस काल में श्याम बाबा का प्रादु र्भाव

हुआ। पाण्डव कुलभूषण बर्बरीक बडे ही बलशाली एवं दानवीर थे। देवादिदेव

महादेव एवं जगदम्बा का इन्हें प्रत्यक्ष आशीर्वाद प्राप्त था। ये इनके प्रिय भक्त थे।

इनसे इनको तीन तीर प्राप्त हुये थे, जिनसे वे सारे त्रिलोक का संहार कर सकते के

थे। माता से आज्ञा ले, ये युद्ध देखने घर से लीले घोडे पर सवार होकर चले( ्

इन्हें लीले असवार भी कहा जाता है) कौरवों ने पाण्डवों के साथ हमेशा

किया। बराबर के हिस्सेदार होने के बावजूद श्री कृष्ण द्वारा इनके लिये पांच

- मांगने पर भी कौरवों ने पांच अंगुल भूमि देने से भी इंकार कर दिया। पांडव 

शांतिप्रिय एवं धर्मावलम्बी थे। जंगल- जंगल भटकते रहते थे। धर्म के

श्रीकृष्ण ने अन्तत: धर्म की रक्षा के लिए धर्मयुद्ध महाभारत का ऐलान कर

और स्वयं इसके सारथी बने | जिसके पक्ष में स्वयं नारायण हो, उस पक्ष की

क्या हार कभी हो सकती है। किंतु कौरवों को श्रीकृष्ण एक मायावी, छलिया एवं गाय.

चराने वाले के सिवाय कुछ प्रतीत नहीं होते थे। स्वयं बीर बर्बरीक की माता को

भी पाण्डवों की जीत का संदेह था। अत: अपने पुत्र की वीरता को देख उसने

वचन मांगा कि तुम युद्ध देखने अवश्य जाओ किंतु यदि वहां युद्ध करना पडे तो

हारे का साथ देना (मन में था पाण्डवों का साथ देना पर खुल कर नहीं कहा) और

मातृभक्त पुत्र ने माता को “हारे का साथ” देने का वचन दिया।

अंतर्यामी लीला पुरूषोत्तम भगवान श्रीकृष्ण को भान हो गया कि बर्बरीक

युद्ध देखने चल पडे हैं और युद्ध में कौरवों की हार निश्चित है। माता को दिए

वचनानुसार वे कौरवों की तरफ से यदि युद्ध कर बैठे तो पाण्डवों का विनाश

निश्चित है। उन्हें कोई नहीं बचा सकेगा। अत: उन्होंने लीला रची | ब्राह्मण वेश 

बनाकर रास्ते में ही बर्बरीक से मिलने की सोची | बर्बरीक से भेंट होने पर  पहले 

उन्होंने कई प्रकार की बातें की, फिर उनसे परिचय पूछा। बर्बरीक ने अपने बल 

पोरूष एवं दान शीलता का बखान किया। ब्राह्मण रूपधारी श्रीकृष्ण ने उनकी  

बीरता का प्रत्यक्ष परिचय देने के लिये कहा। बर्बरीक ने एक ही बाण से सार

सृष्टि को संहार करने का ओजस्वी स्वर गुंजायमान किया। ब्राह्मण ने असहमति

जताते हुये वहीं स्थित एक पीपल के पेड से सभी पत्तों को एक ही बाण में

बेधकर दिखाने को कहा- जिस समय बर्बरीक ध्यान मग्न हो अनुसंधान करने

लगे- उसी समय श्रीकृष्ण ने एक पत्ता तोड अपने पैर के नीचे दबा लिया। सोचा,

मैं | स्वयं इस पत्ते की रक्षा करूँ देखूं क्या होता है किंतु बर्बरीक के बाण ने सभी

पत्तों का छेदन कर डाला- श्रीकृष्ण द्वारा रक्षित पत्ता भी नहीं बच पाया। श्रीकृष्ण

"सारी बात समझ गए, अब उन्होंने एक अद्भुत लीला रची जो सदैव अमर रहेगी।

. श्रीकृष्ण ने बर्बरीक से दान मांगा और उसका वचन ले लिया, वचन मिलने

श्रीकष्ण ने बर्बरीक से उसके शीश को ही दान में मांग लिया।

अचंभित  रह गया- यह क्‍या मांग लिया । किंतु बडे ही नम्र  भाव में उन्होंने ब्राह्मण

से विनती की  प्रभु! आपको मेरे शीश से क्या प्रयोजन, आप कौन है? बाह्मण तो

नही हो सकते | कृपा कर अपने को प्रकट कर शंका निवारण करें| तब श्रीकृष्ण

ने उन्हें अपने रूप का दर्शन कराया और समझाया, वत्स ! महाभारत युद्ध के लिये

._ एक वीर की बलि चाहिए। तुम पाण्डव कुल के हो। अत: रक्षा के लिए तुम्हारा

. बलिदान सदैव याद किया जायेगा। बर्बरीक ने शीश दान से पहले युद्ध देखने की इच्छा प्रकट की 

भगवान ने तथास्तु ! कहकर वीर योद्धा को संतुष्ट किया। सारा

ब्रहमान सुन्न पड़ गया  भ्रब ऐसी घटना होनी बाली थी जो न तो हुई और न आगे

किसी भी युग में होगी वीर ने अपने आरशध्य देवी- देवताओं का बंदन किया।

माता को नमन किया और फिर कमर से कटार खींचकर एक ही वार में अपने

के शीश को  धड से अलग कर श्री कृष्णा   दान कर डाला। श्रीकृष्ण ने तेजी से 

सीस को हाथ में उठा लिया एवं अमृत से सींच कर अमर करते हुये एक

टीले पर रखबा दिया। खादू मंदिर में जब आप जायेंगें। आपको बाबा का नित

नया रूप मिलेगा। किन्हीं - किन्हीं को तो इस विग्रह में कई लदलाव नजर आते

हैं। कभी मोटा तो कभी दुबला, कहीं हंसता हुआ तो कभी तेज भरा कि नजर भी

नहीं टिक पार्ती। प्रसंगवश आगे ये बात लिखने से रह नहीं जाएं, अत: यही

निबेदन कर दिया है।

प्रेमियों युद्ध शुरू हुआ, अमरत्व प्राप्त शीश पूरे युद्ध को देख रहा था। युद्ध

के दौरान कई लीलाएं घटती रही। धर्म और अधर्म कौ आँख मिचौली निरंतर

जारी थी। दृष्टा मौन हो सब देख रहा था। अन्नत: कौरवों का अंत हुआं। पाण्डब

विजयी हुए। विजय के मद ने मति बदल दी। सभी आत्म प्रशंसा में लग गो

मतान्तर होने पर श्रीकृष्ण के पास निर्णय के लिए पहुंचे। श्रीकृष्णने कह

तो स्वयं व्यस्त था। आप में से किसने कया पराक्रम दिखाया ? देख नहीं सका 

बर्बरीक के पास चलें, वहीं निर्णय मिलेगा। अब तक बर्बरीक के शीश

कहानी पाएडवों को नहीं मालूम हुई थी। भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के बर्बरीक से पांडवो के पराक्रम  के 

 बारे में पूछने पर शीश ने उत्तर दिया, “प्रभु ! युद्ध

दर्शन चक्र नाच रहा था और जगदम्बा खप्पर भर- भरकर लहू का

थी।”' मुझे तो ये लोग कहीं नजर नहीं आए, बर्बरीक के उत्तर को सुन कर 

पाण्डवों की नजरें नीची हो गई। मुस्करा रहे थे वासुदेव, बर्बरीक से धर्मानुकूल 

निर्णय सुनकर  कृष्ण ने बर्बरीक का सभी से परिचय कराया प्रेमियों 

स्कंधपुराण में बर्बरीक को भीम का पुत्र घटोत्कच्छ का पुत्र बतलाया :

जबकि कई जगह इन्हें भीम का पौत्र नहीं पुत्र माना गया है। मैं तो यह जनता हूँ 

कि ये मेरे अराध्य देव हैं, सकल फलदायक हैं, क्योंकि इन्हें श्री कृष्णा  से ऐसा ही.

वरदान मिला। वैसे हमारी संस्कृति वेदों और पुराणों के आधार पर टिकीं है 

..._ पुनश्च: पाण्डवों को दिए निर्णय के तत्काल बाद श्रीकृष्ण ने खुश होकर

इन्हें अपना नाम श्याम, अपनी कलाएं एवं अपनी शक्तियाँ प्रदान की। साथ ही

कलयुग में घर- घर पूजे जाने का वरदान भी दिया। प्रभु का स्वर गूंजा, बर्बरीक

.._ धरती पर तुमसे बडा दानी न तो हुआ है और ना ही होगा। माँ को दिए बचन के

अनुसार तुम हारे का सहारा बनोगे। कल्याण की भावना सै तुम्हारे दर-

लोग जो भी मांगेगे, उन्हें मिलेगा। वे खाली झोली लेकर वापस नहीं जायेंगे 

तुम्हारे दर पर सभी की इच्छाएं पूर्ण होंगी।

कालान्तर में बर्बरीक का यही शीश खाटू गांव में प्रकट हुआ जो राजस्थान

प्रदेश के सीकर जिले में है। जिस स्थान से शीश प्रकट हुआ, आज वहाँ एक

अदूभुत कुण्ड है जो श्री श्याम कुण्ड के नाम से सुविख्यात है। यहां भी कई

चमत्कार हुए हैं। श्रद्धाभाव से कुण्ड में स्नान करने वालों के कई रोगों का

निवारण हुआ है, ऐसी मान्यता है। प्रेमियों | सभी देवी - देवता फलदायक हैं किंतु

श्री कष्ण के वरदान के अनुसार कलयुग में श्री श्यामजी के दरबार में जल्दी सुनाई

होती  है। अत: लोग यहां उमड रहे हैं। यदि उनकी भावनाएं सजीव न होती तो

कब तक लोग आते। आर्थिक युग में अर्थ की प्रधानता है और धन- दौलत तो

बाबा लुटाता है 

आज  श्याम बाबा के मंदिर भारतवर्ष के कौने-कौने में विद्यमान है किंतु

मुख्य मंदिर खाटू  में है। अतः यह खाटू धाम के नाम से जाना जाता है। जयपुर+

सीकर मार्ग  पर वाया रींगस  जयपुर से 70 किमी. की दूरी पर बाबा का मुख्य मंदिर  है जबकि दिल्ली से इसकी दूरी. लगभग 300 किमी. है।
